Agents Configuration and Transition Scenarios
The following are the Agents configuration and transition scenarios:
Agent and DR Site Availability Scenarios
Agent scenario | DR site availability | Description |
---|---|---|
Download new Agent | Only Primary site configured | Agents are configured with only the Primary site URL. If the Primary site is down, Agents will try to connect to the Primary site only. |
Running Agents | DR site is added | After the DR site URL is added, Agents update with the DR site URL. If the Primary site goes down after the update, Agents switch to the DR site. If the Primary site goes down before the update, Agents work only with Primary. |
Download new Agent | Primary and DR both are configured | Agents are configured with both URLs. Agents always try to connect to the Primary site first. If the Primary site is not available, they try to connect to the DR site. |
Running Agents | Primary and DR both are configured | Site switching: If Agents are configured with both sites, they connect to the active site. If the active site goes down, Agents keep trying both sites until one becomes available. |
Agent Start-up | Primary and DR both are configured | Connecting to active site: If Agents are configured with both sites, they can connect to either site during start-up. Agents try to connect to the Primary and DR site in that sequence. If none are available, the Agent shuts down. |
Migration from R7.x and earlier | The existing site is termed as the Primary site. The user can add the DR site after migration to R7.x. |
